Conventional “Make Money with your Website” business models usually recommend that you get  your own hosting and build your own Making Money Websites.

This idea has merits in that you can have a whole load of control over many factors, parameters and user-friendliness over your own website that will make you money.

When I was first starting out learning about making money with websites online, some of the free materials and even the paid ebooks have also recommended that you use free online resources such as forums, groups, newsgroups, and bulletin boards to do one of the following things:

1. Generate leads
2. Build an email list
3. Generate publicity
4. Generate web traffic
5. Drive website traffic to an affiliate offer that will make you money onlin
6. Build backlinks
7. And a bunch of other benefits

What if we simply re-think the term “Money Making Website” and allow these to include “Any Content Page That Provides and Allows You to Project and Exert Your Web Presence Online“?

SIDENOTE: Yes, for those folks in the military (especially if you’ve worked on a Carrier or CBG), you know what “force projection” means. For example, your aircraft carrier enables force projection because it brings your forces to a wider reach (allows you to strike further) than if you were only operating from land. In the same light, using mulitiple online content pages to project and exert your web presence online gives you much greater marketing reach and more diverse means to make money online.

Once you’ve adopted this mindset, wow… now any website or webpage or online platform that provides and allows you to have a presence online can be a Making Money Website for you!

Quite simply, if you kept the objectives as those give above, i.e. to build an email list, generate publicity, generate web traffic, drive website traffic to your own website or to an affiliate product, to build backlinks and soon, then any online platform that allows you to do one or more of these can become a money making website for you.

The key here is to change your mindset from what you think or believe a making money website should be.

If you can do that, then you’re on you are ready to create many making money websites of your own.

So obviously, now things are a whole lot clearer and you will never run out of places, sources and online platforms that can be your own money making website.

Keeping points 1 to 7 in focus, you can now now build your network of making money websites using some or all of the following:

1. Social Networking platforms such as facebook, myspace, twitter, linkedIn
2. Social bookmarking platforms such as delicio.us, digg,
3. Online blogging platforms such as blogger.com or wordpress.org
4. Groups (google groups, yahoo groups and the like)
5. Yahoo Answers
6. Video platforms such as youtube, vimeo, yahoo videos
7. Document sharing platforms such as Scribd.com
8. Forums that are related to your niche (Simply post your websites’ links in your forum signature, write short content snippets or “pitches” and post links in your forum profiles. Don’t think these are effective? Find 10 high traffic and/or high PR forums and try doing these 2 things. Test and track and evaluate your results).

……… and plus there are many other opportunities to create and build your own making money “websites” in many other places (here are a few more: article directories, business networking platforms such as high5), often for free and other times, for a nominal fee.

Now that you can think differently about “websites” that make money, why not start today.

Start by doing the following:

1. Identify 10 places to start, whether it is on a social networking platform or a social bookmarking platform or any of those places where you can project and exert your web presence.
2. Create 5 short paragraphs (or just 3 even) or a simple article that talks about your product or service.
3. Create a 2 or 3 liner “elevator pitch”.  For example: “Clean stubborn stains without damaging your dress”
4. Post, post and post to those online platforms.
5. Test and track your results…..and then Tweak to improve. Ditch whatever doesn’t work after a set period of time (e.g. 6 weeks without a single visitor).

Discovering the truth about making money websites will require your actual participation and involvement in “being” and “doing”. Of course, you can outsource and and delegate this work to others but you need to know what works and how well a method works, first.
